The PS5 and Xbox Series X are both blisteringly powerful consoles, and incredibly popular but when you pit them against the other, which one comes out on top? or will there even be a winner in this fixture?

Consumers are struggling to get their hands on these new generation of consoles ever since the release last year, the supply still seems to be constrained due to the pandemic situation.

 

On-going shortage of semiconductors, as 2021 progresses the consoles are expected to see more availability. If you can't decide whether to get yourself or others a PS5 or Xbox, let's compare both the consoles.

SONY PS5

DESIGN

The PS5 has a design that has never been seen before, Sony has adopted a futuristic look and it is absolutely stunning. The white and black accent matches the color scheme of the controller that is included in the box.

 

It is primarily designed to be placed vertically, but can also be placed horizontally underneath the TV or monitor. 

 

The PS5 comes in 2 variants : Digital and Blu-ray drive versions, with the digital being slimmer, so for those with very high speed internet, should go for the cleaner looking digital version. 

SONY PS5 Specs and Performance

With the use of the new SSD, Sony claims that loading a game on their new console is '10 x faster ' than the previous generation PS4 and is 2 times faster than its competition Xbox X.

The new high performance hardware gives developers opportunity to pursue ideas that weren't possible on the older technology.

Controller

The Dual-Sense controller includes a built-in microphone, that allows players to chat with friends without the need to have a headset.

 

The all new haptic technology introduced in the controller allows for a much immersive gaming experience, which is lacking in case of the Xbox controller.

The standard Blu-ray drive edition comes at Rs 49,990/-
and the Digital Edition is prices at Rs 39,990/-

Xbox Series X

Design

Xbox Series X has a much simpler minimalistic industrial-design with no unnecessary design elements. Like a PS5 it is also designed but not limited to being placed vertically. 

The air flow in through the bottom and out from the top, giving it very efficient temperature management.

Xbox Series X Specs and Performance

As we can see on paper Xbox clearly has the advantage with more powerful CPU and GPU and is 14% more powerful than the PS5. So in terms of raw power Xbox beats PS5 hands down.

Controller

Similar to the PS5 Dual-Sense, the Xbox controller also has haptic feedback but not nearly as impressive as the technology used in the PS5 controller. 

 

While the Xbox controller has slightly better ergonomic grip with more curved and rounded bumpers and triggers. The hybrid D-pad has finely-tuned angles for your thumb.

Xbox Series X Price

The Xbox Series X is priced same as that of the PS5 at Rs 49,990/-

Conclusion

Both the consoles are really promising in terms of design and performance. It is too early to tell which console comes out on top from just the hardware, but as of now Sony has released a bunch of incredible PS exclusive games which can be the tipping point for many. 

 

This is a win for us as gamers as we know now that the new generation of consoles are capable and developers can bring out amazing games for gamers to  experience.
