Lenovo Legion 5 AMD Review A good gaming laptop
The differences between gaming desktops and gaming laptops are significant, but occasionally, portability dominates. This is the biggest reason why gaming laptops exist, and most gamers love them. Among the celebrities most often considered by PC, gamers are Lenovo's Legion family of laptops.
In the past, we’ve seen stunning Legion engines like the Legion 7i, which is a treat for gamers. The Lenovo Legion 5 is a variant of the Legion 5i that uses the Intel chipset. Today I am reviewing.
Legion 5 rocks within the six-core AMD Raison 5 4600h chipset Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650DT graphics. This is the biggest change you will see in this version with 10th generation Intel Core chipsets. This legion 5 AMD is not a high-end device. It is an intermediate laptop with dedicated gaming features and is bundled with it.
Legion 5 doubles as a functional laptop, as the hardware on this laptop, is even better in its price segment. Launched at Rs 79,990, the laptop is now available on some online websites for Rs 75,000.

Lenovo Legion 5 Review: Design for Gamers
If you've seen some of the latest Legion laptops, you'll quickly recognize the shape here. The Legion 5 AMD has a large base that reflects light beyond the hinge. This key is packed with connection ports that you can access from the back of the laptop. You have a USB-A3.1 Gen1 port, three USB-A31 Gen1 ports, a USB-C31 with a display board, HDMI 2.0 port, r. It has a J45 Ethernet port, microphone, headphone combo, Kensington lock slot, and 3.5mm audio jack. Some of these ports are on the left and right sides of the laptop, but most of them are on the back. The USB-C port does not support the Thunderbolt 3 and cannot be used for charging, but you do have a dedicated AC power port on the back.
On the front and on the opposite side of the lid is the Lenovo logo, where you will see the Legion engraved on the surface. When the light reaches this part, you can see the colors of the rainbow. Although I'm not a fan of loud design choices like this, I can give you a pass, because as a gaming laptop, it has to be on top. Lenovo calls it the "durable anti-smudge polymer talcum-injected material" which is a beautiful term for the matte finish on laptops. This gives the laptop a nice look but it's prone to fingerprinting and blurring opportunities. After using the laptop for an hour or two or you will find a dirty laptop - my advice: carry a surface cleaner and a soft cloth.
Inside, you have a very thin bezel display on all three sides, but with a large "legion" inscribed in the bottom center. You can see the wide hinges under the lid. The keyboard sits at a level below the ground floor surface, which was very comfortable for me. After a while, I will talk about what the keyboard looks like.
Although it's a laptop, it's a little bigger than usual. At 2.5kg, it's not the lightest gaming laptop on the market, but it's not overpriced. This is a gaming laptop, it should be a little portable. Legion 5 comes with a heavier charger to carry in your bag, so pack wisely. Although a bit old now I like this design. This is a gaming laptop and the design screams from all angles. The build quality of this laptop is good and it is all plastic.
Lenovo Legion 5 AMD Review: Good display and seamless keyboard
Gaming laptops generally have the best features of all hardware types. Perhaps the most important thing is the display. Lenovo's Legion 5 gets exactly its display features - at least in terms of price.
15.6-inch IPS display with 1920x1080 resolution, HDR support, 100% SRGP, 300 night brightness. This is not the best display profile of a gaming laptop, but for most people, it will suffice. Displays sharp and clear colors that you appreciate while playing the game. Of course, the 120Hz upgrade rate plays an important role in improving gaming. In addition, it's very easy to scroll through websites or swipe between Windows desktop profiles. The brightness inside is good and if you have a display properly, the anti-glare layer is effective.
Above the display is a 720p webcam top bezel. With the increasing use of Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meat, having a good webcam is becoming a priority for laptop buyers today. Lenovo's Legion 5 does not meet those standards. The video quality from this webcam is low. If quality is of paramount importance to you, you may end up buying a dedicated webcam for video calling.
Lenovo has packed its True Strike keyboard at Legion 5 AMD. This is one of the easiest keyboard designs I have ever seen. Key-travel is only 1.5mm, which is great for typing on a keyboard. I've written a lot of stories on this laptop without a hitch. This keyboard is backlit, but unlike other gaming laptops with RGB lights, there is only one white light where the keys are visible. Most Legion laptops have RGB backlit keyboards, so I do not know why Lenovo thought of going white with a gaming laptop. The touchpad below is capable of generating Windows 10 gestures and responding quickly.
Lenovo Legion 5 AMD Review: Player for Good Gaming
Gaming is the main reason you buy Lenovo Legion 5 AMD. The hardware comes first, so it throws heavy and graphics-intensive games into Legion 5.
In Legion 5 I played Call of Duty Warson, Forza Horizon 4, and Hitman 3. It took a while to start each game, but once opened I could easily move on. Yes, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 TI is an entry-level GPU, so the graphics settings on most games have to be reduced. This happened after I realized that the laptop was dangerous during the 15-minute session of Hitman 3 with maximum graphics. The upgrade rate makes the experience better, but you have to choose between very high graphics and keeping the laptop quiet.
The thing you need to remember is that Legion 5 is really fun when it comes to gaming unless you lower that graphics quality bar.
With such hardware, there is no doubt that doing your daily work is a good machine. 15 Chrome tabs open, but the laptop does not make noise and says it's enough for a journalist's job. For others like coders, the laptop will still serve you well. But creators, you have to make an educated decision. This is not a fast engine for your video rendering sessions, but it will run faster.
Lenovo Legion 5 runs AMD Windows 10, with all-new features including exclusive features from a company like Lenovo Vantage. Herman's tuned speakers are very loud and it's enjoyable to watch movies on gaming and laptops. Dolby Atmos with headphones is supported, but I don't use them much.
Lenovo Legion 5 AMD Review: Average Battery
If I had something I liked it would be nice, that was the battery. Lenovo claims that the 80Wh battery in the Legion 5 AMD can provide 8 hours of life. This is twice what I get in maximum settings. A fully charged battery lasts approximately 4-4.5 hours with a continuous WiFi connection, and the Chrome browser works with 6-10 tabs and 45 minutes to play Call of Duty Wars. On gaming laptops, you often get 4 hours of battery life, but Lenovo could have done a little better. The laptop has a quick charge of 170W with a bundled (large and large) charger.
Lenovo Legion 5 AMD Review: Should You Buy It?
With Legion 5 AMD, Lenovo is trying to attract customers who are not interested in gaming but want to engage in some after a long day of work. Priced at Rs 75,000, the Legion 5 AMD is one of the standard laptops that makes the most of its product features for a more casual and more fulfilling gaming experience. This is more or less the case with Legion 5i.
